Large Families the solution to low fertility?
What would America look like if more women had large families? This question has been on my mind lately. Why? Because the fertility rates for January 2026 has come out showing we are already seeing less births than January 2025. There are many reasons for the decline in fertility. Culture, education, and lowering poverty are a few. But...this opens up an opportunity for those wanting large families to have as many kids as they want without guilt. With 65 million baby boomers expected to pass away in the next 20 years (plus regular deaths) this leaves a wide gap in the amount of babies we need to replace them. Enter the large family. Today, 13 million women in America can decide to have at least 8 kids in the next 20 years and we would barely be at replacement. This is hard to wrap my head around.
